Hornlake Store Left Week of Paid Personal Time Unpaid

I'm not speaking for all Home Depots, but this one and a few others in the district shortchange their employees on their pay!

The one in Hornlake, MS is a bad place to work!

I worked there for about 2 years, maybe more, and you come in and work hard, deal with some rude customers and some managers who don't care about anyone but themselves.

Their way of saying thank you for a year or more of hard work and dedication is, "Oh well, we're going to give you a 30 cent raise!" (If you even get that at all).

So I got tired of being treated badly and looked for another job. I got one, and Michael Cain (assistant manager) told me to go ahead and take my paid personal time that I had acquired for the year so I wouldn't lose it, so I did (40 hours worth - one week of pay).

When I went to pick up my paycheck, it was a week short. My personal time was not on the check, and when I asked him about it he said he would check into it. It took two more weeks to do that.

He then came back and told me that if I had worked 8 hours after taking my personal (paid) time off, I would have been paid for the week. Well, he failed to tell me that before I took the time off.

Now ask yourself this: would you cheat yourself out of a week's worth of pay if you only had to work 8 hours to get it? I didn't think so.

If he had told me about having to work eight more hours after my time off, I would have worked it. I'm not going to sit there and cheat myself out of a week's worth of pay. That's stupid, especially when I had a house note due and I was depending on that check to pay it.

Oh, and the funny thing is that two more weeks after that I got a check in the mail for 40 hours of vacation pay that was owed to me as well, but I didn't have to work to get that.

I want what is owed to me and fair. I worked hard for a year to accrue that personal time, and now I want what is rightfully mine.
