Fake Computer Alert Led to $322 Program Sale and Malware

My computer had a serious-looking alert: "Warning! Go no further. Call now. Do not reboot or ignore."
They told me there was a work on my computer, and sold me a program for $322. A technician then took control of my computer and installed malware. I could have done that myself. They told me Avast does not work on Windows 10.
