I dropped my car off at Aamco on Frankford Avenue on the Monday before Memorial Day Weekend (May, 22) to have a tune-up and other repairs done to the car before the busy weekend. When I went to pick up my car that Friday, the mechanic that actually performed the repairs to the vehicle (Mark), and the owner of the shop (Dion Whitley) were gone for
the day.

Upon entering the shop area to speak with the mechanic, I noticed my car was parked very close to the equipment near the wall, along with tools and objects spread throughout the entire shop. I also noticed that the shop area was pretty tight, forcing them to have to put customer's cars on their lift, and park cars underneath of them.

Concerned at what I saw, I took a quick glance at my car and quickly noticed that they hit something yellow, as the paint is deeply embedded into the area of the bumper where it collided. I immediately noticed that the arms on their lifts were yellow (identical to that of the yellow paint on my bumper), growing more concerned, I walk around and examine the rest of the car, and notice other points of collision on the rear bumper. I notified the woman stationedat the front desk to come see with her own eyes what occurred, along with the other mechanic in the shop. Both the woman at the front desk, and the mechanic examined the collision areas of the car. The lady shook her head, and stated that the shop is insured, and that the issue would be taken care of immediately. She then immediately proceeded to the office and began dialing the phone (which was clearly her calling Dion Whitley, the owner of the shop to notify him). I assumed that it was obvious enough that it definitely happened in this shop, and then took possession of my car.

The shop was closed that following Monday, so I called on Tuesday. I was told (presumably by the same woman who was at the shop when I picked the car up) that both the owner, and the mechanic who repaired my car (Mark) were both not available. I left my phone number (which they already had) for either of them to contact me.

I called the shop again on Wednesday, and left a message with yet another employee. Coincidentally, both the owner and mark were not at the shop or available to speak to me.

In my final attempt to resolve the issue, I sent them a letter (which I've included in the attachments), asking them to kindly fix the issues with my car, and even threatened to commence civil action against them should they ignore my request.

The letter was unsuccessful, so I filed the lawsuit.

On June 25, the owner, Dion Whitley, called me asking me "what this was about", and then stated that he "wasn't aware of what happened". He then proceeded to telling me that his employees did not notify him of the issue until the lawsuit was served on him (talk about a competent staff!), and that if I wanted the damage fixed, I had to let HIS body shop fix the damages, otherwise he wasn't going to help me. I was obviously offended, and ended the phone call.

His attorney answered the lawsuit, alleging that the incident never happened, that no one came out and inspected the car, nor committed to fixing the issues (like any attorney would in answering a legal complaint). Eventually, a SECOND attorney was retained by the insurance company.

In summary, it is very clear from their handling of this incident that this shop is not reputable. The dishonesty and carelessness of its owners and staff made my dealings with them a nightmare. If they cause an issue, be prepared to have to sue them for it to be resolved, as I did.
