Forgetting to return tranny parts and refusing to ship to new mechanic

Cars & Transport

I had my '98 Ford Explorer towed to the AAMCO at 968 W Evelyn Ave.in Sunnyvale, CA a few weeks ago for transmission repair. After the diagnostic, in which my tranny was pulled, I asked that it and all parts be left in a box in the back of my Explorer, so I could have it towed to another shop to have another tranny put in. AAMCO wanted more than $3300 to rebuild the transmission, which is a ridiculous suggestion because the factory rebuilt transmissions are cheaper and come with a guarantee (of course, then they couldn't charge so much for labor).

After having my Explorer towed to another shop, the mechanic there said that the bolts, cross members, and drive shaft were missing from my old tranny. I called the AAMCO shop to find out where these parts were but received no return call after describing the situation. I called again the next day and learned that the parts were still at the AAMCO shop but "good for me that they weren't thrown away." I asked to have the parts shipped to my mechanic since I live far away and am without a vehicle and was told by Rick that it was not possible. So now I have to take time off work to come and pick up the parts and fix AAMCO's screw up.
