Out of $1100 and his son crashed totalled my vechicle

I went to Bill on a referral from a close friend because he did do good work on his car. Bill advised the engine needed to be replaced and said he found one for $1100. I handed him the money and he acquired the engine as promised for my Mazda Miata as promised. He was going to charge $400 for labor for replacing the engine. He put the engine in but it was no good. So he got the engine rebuilt and installed the engine in.

He had his son driving the vehicle and he totalled it and the son did not have any insurance and will not claim under his insurance. He had the vechicle towed to my house which does not allow vehicles in the drive-way because of HOA rules. The police reports states the fault was with his son and I did not have full coverage insurance. He left the car on my drive way completely totalled mailed my registration to me without a return address and now he will not reimburse me for my totalled car or the money I gave to him for the engine.
