G. M is not the only trucks with rusty tailgate support cables. I have a 2001 nissan frontier se. One of the tailgate support cables broke, no load on the tailgate. Tailgate was down to save on fuel. Cable broke in the middle. About the only place I can find one is at a nissan dealer for $23.95 highway robbery? Have tried all over the internet to no avail. If anyone else has the same problem contact the nhtsa. Dot. Gov and file a complaint.
