Valvoline Intstant Oil Change
GM0004-Denver Tried to rip me off and then called the police on ME!

I recently had the mistfortune to stop in to the Valvoline Instant Oil Change GM0004-Denver, NC, Manager: William Barnes, 7575 Highway 73, Denver, North Carolina, 28037.

Although I had just had my car in my regular machanic and was told from him that it should pass inspection, Justin Joyner failed my inspection for steering problems because of a fauilty serpentine belt. I noticed this is a service the company provides.

When I questioned him about this, William Barnes stuck his head out of the office and screamed, "Just go ahead and fail her" Then looked at me and said, "He's trying to give you an option, Lady". I was very upset, I knew this vehicle should have passed inspection, I left there and drove to a reputable mechanic down the street where they passed my inspection with no problems.

When I got home, the Sherriff's Deputy showed up at my door. He told me that William Barnes was threatening to procecute me for larceny if I did not come down and pay $23.75.

NOW, on top of being lied to, am being threatened with jail if I do not come down to your company and pay you money for trying to rip me off?

I paid the amount, to avoid jail, but I had already had my car inspected, so he was not able to block my inspection. I found out later that if I had stayed, inspection would have been blocked until I had the "repairs mad" either paid for it from someone else or paid Valvoline AND someone else to have it inspected, if I did not want to go back to Valvoline! (why would I when they tried to rip me off?) I am attaching scans of the receipt and the failed inpection. I am requesting a refund for the $23.75 for a bogus inspection, and an apology, in writing, from Mr. Barnes for trying to rip me off.
