Almost Scammed at Valero

Left my car for inspection, May. Mechanic Robert called me & said I needed front brakes & rotors, rear brakes & rotors, & several engine hoses to pass inspection. I knew this was impossible, so I told him to do nothing & have my car ready for pick-up in 20 minutes. When I got there, Robert & owner Ali Kirmani refused to take my car off the lift, saying the work was mandatory, then saying I could do without the hoses, then without the rotors, etc. Ali became loud (screaming), vulgar (cursing), & abusive, saying he would not release my car until I paid a $37 inspection fee.

I called the New Rochelle police, who filed an event report. When they arrived, Ali was soft-spoken, apologetic, & had my car ready & waiting. I drove it directly to another inspection station, where it passed with flying colors, only needing a brake bulb. I took my inspection paperwork back to Robert (Ali had left) & showed him how the car did not need ANYTHING that he & Ali told me it must have to pass inspection. I filed a complaint report with the NYS-DMV. I was lied to & almost ripped-off. I wonder how many other customers believe these questionable business men.
