Service Department did not diagnose stuck thermostat causing head gasket to failure

My Nissan Altima was taken in for oil change and fluid top-off. The quick ervice tech did not put fluids in Coolant reservoir. Car began to run hot within a week. Dealership called for customer feedback and I reported the coolant was not checked, car running hot and I am concerned about what else they did not check.

I was told to come in and get a 35 point checkup assuring me the problem would be found. The mechanic noted that the coolant was empty but, did not fill it, or offer to fill it or find out why it was empty. He noted about $2000 other items that had already been taken care of previously, and said he based it on mileage, not problems. He said he didn't even mention the radiator, gaskets or cause of car running hot. I did not discover that the coolant was still empty until I returned home and had to fill it myself.

Within a week the engine was in the Hot zone all the time. I rushed it to a local shop and they diagnosed a blown head gasket probably caused by a stuck thermostat. I went to Nissan and complained to the service manager who agreed they failed and should have caught it on the 35 point checkup. He did not offer to accept responsibility for the damage to my car, or repair it at no charge, or reduce the cost to bare minimum; his price was higher than the local stand alone store.

I can't trust this Nissan dealer to take care of my car, which is the one place you would hope would take care of it.
