Customer Service Dept. Rep refused to connect me to the company's marketing department

Strange business practices, or "how not to gain more customers"— business must be too good!

I called an advertised 877 number, and requested information. Unable to answer my question, the sales agent connected me to customer service, who was also unable to answer my question. I was then (presumably) connected to the marketing dept, where I was connected to an answering service. A second call to the original 877 number achieved the same results. At this time, I called the 800 number listed on their website, confirmed that it was in fact the same company, and once again the questiuon was asked, and once again was referred to the customer service dept., requesting a connection to the marketing dept. After being connected to 2 more customer service reps, I was finally told by the customer service agent that the company's marketing dept. Did not take calls from "outside sources".

None of the sales agents or customer service agents were able to answer my question, the customer service agents referred me to the marketing dept., who did not pick up the phone, and finally I was told that the company's marketing dept. Would not take my call.

I get the feeling that they did not want to answer my question, but they have my phone number— why is it that I do not expect a callback?
