General Motors
GM, Chevrolet GM Sells the Worst Quality Vehicles

Cars & Transport

I now regretfully purchased a 2006 Chevy Colorado LS I4 in the fall of 2005 for over $24,000. Since then I have had to pay for several major repairs even before the vehicle was completely paid for. The charges include:

10/31/09 - Diagnosed/Replaced the Evap Vent Solenoid: $414.77 Check engine light came back on after less than 1 year.
8/15/10 - Replaced the 7 year battery after barely 5 years of use in the mid-Atlantic area $114.00
12/15/10 - 12/24/10 Diagnosed/Replaced the cracked Air Cleaner Resonator: $250.79 The check engine light returned immediately. This part had to be ordered from GM because it was not available locally due to it not being a common problem.
12/24/10 - Received a quote to replace the air intake manifold gasket from a local garage: $580 excluding tax
1/08 - Received a quote to replace the air intake manifold gasket from a Chevy garage: Diagnostic fee $99. $625 parts and labor excluding tax. GM would not extend warranty to correct problem.

The decision to purchase this vehicle was one of the worst I've made in my life. I traded in a Nissan Frontier with 120,000 for this truck and never even had to replace the brakes. Please be advised about the poor quality of GM vehicles for any future purchases. My friends and family have already heard about these issues. I will not be buying any GM products going forward. It's amazing that our tax dollars went to bailout a company that produces such poor quality products. We should have let them go out of business instead!
