Power steering failure

G.M. Has recalled 05-10 chevy cobalts due to power steering assist going in then going completly out. Mine was a problem back when i got it 06. I had taken it to the dealership seven times in the last 3 years and nothing. The computer board showed nothing! I thought that maybe it was my tires and got a new set, and that was not it. The check engine light would go on and off and again back to the dealership i went. Again nothing. Finally in march of this year on the 30th to be exact the steering went out and i crashed into a tree and totaled the car. When G.M. Sent someone to plug in the car again it showed nothing except the steering wheel was turned a little to the left, this is because i could not turn the wheel any further. My car sat in the garage for over a month with a dead battery. I was also informed that some of the data may have been lost. Because the computer did not show any thing G.M. Is not going to take responsibility for this. I did not receive the recall notice until april 2nd two days after the recall. If i would have known about this i would have never never driven my car, i would have had it towed on a flat bed trailer to the dealership. I am appauled by G.M. S bussness practices. It is very sad that they choose to treat their customers with such disrespect in calling the consumer a lier. It did not matter what i told them or what records i have to prove my point, the are only interested in what the computer says after it has been sitting for over a month with a dead battery. This was a gift from my mom after my grandfather died. I feel hopeless and beat down it is a shame the that big cooperations can do this to consumers and have no guilt, and not even try to rectify the situation. I have owned chevys all my life i will not make that that mistake again!!!
