Even with warranty and recall, came up with a reason[ not factual] to charge me

My wife had taken our car [2002 PT cruiser] to the auto dealership listed. The problem: power steering fluid leaking. We called our personal mechanic to diagnosethe problem. He informed us that there was a recall on the power steering high pressure hose. With this information and knowing that we pur chased a 7 year-70,000 mile extended warranty, we reluctantly decided to take the vehicle to the dealership. You know how it is, " your warranty doesn't cover that because blaa, blaa, blaa". Afew hours later we recieve a phone call to notify us that a multi-point inspection had been done. Thedealership was only asked to look at the power steering leak problem. We then recieve a call with a $2000.50 estimate to fix a list of items. The service department advisor tells us that the power steering pressure switch is leaking, thus this part is not covered under our warranty and/or the recall. This would carry a $295.00 charge. We declined to have any work done that was not covered under our warranty. Once the warrentied repairs were made we had the vehicle towed to our personal mechanic.

We purchased the parts that were recommened by the dealership, and gave them to our mechanicto fix this list of problems. When he finished the repairs he gave us the power steering pressure switch back and said to get our money back for the part because the power steering pressure switch was not leaking but the high pressre hose [recalled part] was the part that was leaking.

The next morning I called the service department manager and told him of my discovery. He spoke to 3 mechanics and they all said that it was leaking. I was told, and I quote, " well if it's not leaking, then it will '. The part is still in my car and it is still NOT leaking. The part that was leaking was a recalled part.

I, as a customer, purchased a 7 year-70,000 mile bumper to bumper extended warranty hoping that in the future of owning this vehicle if I should ever have a problem I should be covered. Though, when a problem arises, it seems to be the norm to hear that I am not covered due to whatever.in this case, a recalled part was the problem and to recoupe any loss, they tried to find a way to do just that. The other point I seemed to notice is that when my wife takes a vehicle in for service, problems like this arise.

No satisfaction was made after my phone call to the service manager, my next step is to see the general manager. Update soon
