I own a 2007 Ford Mustang with 42,000 miles on it. Recently my clutch went out and when i took it to the dealer they informed me that even though it's part of the power train it was not covered by the warranty. The dealer looked at the car, the tires and it admitted that it was evident that there was no abuse. I've driven vehicles with manual transmissions for about 50 years and I've never had a clutch go out at 42,000 miles. It makes me believe that there was a defect of some sort. I called Ford and did not get satisfaction at all, but only the run around. The Ford Rep told me that she would contact the dealer and that they would give me some consideration on the cost of the repair. The dealer said that there wasn't a thing he could do that it was up to Ford. I've owned 7 Fords and I doubt I will ever own another one. Oh, the dealer told me that to get the clutch replaced it would cost me $1500 which was about twice what only shops quoted me. Needless to say I'm going to have it repaired some place else. I've had Fords for around 50 years and I've had good dealings with them, but apparently the company has changed in the last couple of years and doesn't care about it's long time customers. I definitely think Ford come have helped with the expense of repairing a car that is only 3 years 1 month old and has low mileage and stood behind it's warranty. It looks like the power train warranty is useless and doesn't cover anything.
