Poor Maintenance Performance

Cars & Transport

I own a 2007 Ford Mustang with about 42,000 miles on it. The clutch went out on it this past weekend and when I took the vehicle to the dealer to have it repaired he informed me clutches were not covered by the power train warranty even though they were part of the power train. I talked to Ford and even though the vehicle was not drived poorly (the dealer admitted this) they could not do anything for me. I'm 69 years old and have driven manual transmission vehicles all my life and this is the only vehicle I've ever owned where the clutch has gone out at 42,000 miles. A clutch should last around 120,000 miles. To repair the clutch the dealer wanted to charge me $1500 which I've found out was about twice what anyone was charging to do the same work. I've own 7 Fords in my life but this will be the last one.
