Speedometer Problems

I have a 2005 Chevy Tahoe that I bought brand new in Jan. Recently the speedometer either stops working or it gets stuck. I discovered that GM is aware of the problem due to thousands of complaints, but GM refused to issue a recall to fix the stepper motors which will fix the problem. I feel that GM has let loyal customers down with this problem. My entire family drives only GM vehicles, but that will change if the problem isn't fixed.
