Speedometer 2005 mustang

In 2007 we bought our daughter a 2005 Ford Mustang. It took about a year for it to develope a problem with the windows not working correctly. The dealer tells me it is the onboard computer and after installing a new one, they tell me I also needed a battery. I think I took a real fleecing. But now the Speedometer only works about 20% of the time and you can not trust it when it does. A litle research and I find there was a design change that year in the postioning motors that take feed from the computer to make the needle move. Google Ford Mustang 2005 speedometer. Ford wants $200 labor to replace the instrument cluster and another $380 for a new instrument cluster that most likely has the same defective motor to move the needle as the original one. A little more research and I find the instrument face just snaps off and 4 screws hold the instrument cluster and then unplug a wire. About as much time as it takes to read this. They want $200 labor. I then find there are busnisess out there that will rebuild your cluster for $169 with a life time replacement if it quits. Ford only stands behind their replacement 12 months. They probobly know it will quit again I consider very unsafe not to know how fast you are going. Called Ford Customer Service. All they would do is take my comments. I ask for feedback. They said I would get none. So here is what it boils down to. Some penny pinching purchaser for Ford saves a few dollars by using low quality parts and knows they are really going to get into your pocket when you have to bring it back to have it fixed. I have driven Dodge's for 35 years and never had to walk and they are cheap to fix. Good service out of GM's but Ford. Buy American but do not buy Ford
