Is the worst place to take your trucks for repairs in

Do not take your rigs to Kenworth of SLC if you want the repairs done right the first time.

I own two water trucks and took both in for annual fed Dot inspections last year and got royally screwed. I instructed them to do the inspections and advise of any problems that would need to be repaired. For two days the calls did not stop.

Truck 1 they replaced the starter ($700) because they said the got it on the rack and then it would not start. (I later had the same problem and the mechanic that fixed it found that the wiring between the starter and batterys were the problem). When asked to see starter (I wanted to test it myself) they had sent it off for the core charge and I was just out of luck.

They also "misplaced" my battery cover and then blamed me, stating that it must not have been on the truck when it came it.

They fixed a crack in the brake lining (two weeks later I got shut down at a port of entry because they did not put the brake back together correctly).

Truck #2

Needed the dogs (where the gears line up) in the top of the transmission replaced as they were worn out. I informed them of the problem exactly and actually showed it to the person receiving the truck. They changed out the transmission splitter assembly and charged a ridiculous price for it. I had to have that fixed later in the Dalles Oregon. They did a great job for about have the price as kenworth charged for fixing something that wasnt even broken in the first place.

On this truck they broke one of the site mirrors and lost the battery box to this truck as well. Again blaming me.

Neither truck would start when I picked them up and had to be jumped.

In short, the list goes on and on and on. Total between the two trucks was a little over $8000 dollars and we didnt make it two weeks into the year before we were inspected, shut down and cited for repairs.

When I called to complain they were less the sympathetic and really had no answer why their costs were so high and their workmanship was so shitty.

They are not mechanics, they are replacement guys, your better off going somewhere else.

By the way, the inspections that they gave me were Utah state inspections and not Federal DOT inspections. They dont have a person that does Federal only state although they didnt inform me of that until I saw the stickers with the beehive on them in the windows.
