Wick RVCOOL is NOT!

If you need to have your RV refrigerator rebuilt, RVCOOL is NOT the company to use. Wick (the owner) is all to happy and nice to you when you are looking to buy from him, but have a problem after you put down your money and Mr. Hyde comes out.

I purchased a rebuilt refrigerator unit from RVCOOL. After it arrived I installed it in my RV and went camping. Well it did get a little cool, but basically did not work. After returning I called 'Wick', who said I probably did not put on enough Mastic and have a good contact.

Well, I was on vacation for two weeks, and after getting home it was another two weeks to catch up, and guess what, my 30 day free return warranty was up. Then about two weeks later I was laid off from my job and did not just have the $110 dollars required to ship the unit back just laying around. So what I did was wait, (I had a one year warranty), until I could get the money togeather.

When the next summer came I realized that available money or not I needed to return the refrigerator or loose all. So I contacted Wick about how to return it. I accutally contacted Wick several times, two by email which he did not respond to and then by phone. When I talked to him on the phone he remembered me contacting him the year before about this return and BLEW UP. He began yelling how I had a whole year to return the unit and now it was his busy season, and he was moving his shop and to go ahead and send it back and he would get to it when he got to it. I then asked him how and where to ship it nad he said in a box to the address on his web site and then slammed the phone down in my ear.

Although not real happy with this not so friendly attitude, I wanted a working refrigerator for my money and sent it to him. After about two weeks I called him and asked if he had any estimated time when my unit would be ready so I could make plans to use the RV before the end of summer (it was June). Wick then BLEW UP again, started yelling that I would have to wait, CUSSED at me, said for me to never call him again and slammed the phone down in my ear.

Basically at this point there was nothing I could do but wait, and about three weeks later my refrigerator unit came back. There was no note about what had been done, and no paperwork at all. From what I could tell the unit looked just like it did when it left. I then put the unit back in the RV (No small task) and tested it, and it still did not work.

Because of his Rude and Unprofessional behavior and since the unit was now out of warranty I just delt with fact that I had been ripped off. But a year later I thought I would contact RVCOOL again about the fact that my refrigerator had never worked. My thoughts were that maybe he was in the middle of some problem and I was just there. So I sent wick an email, explaing the circumstances, appoligizing for any misunderstanding that may have occurred and asking what could be done. I even suggested that it may be some installation probem that was my fault, and if he would give me some diagnostic routine to follow I would do so. Wick did reply, he said I could send it back and he would check it out, that he had never sent out anything bad. Although this may seem like a decent offer, he attitude was RUDE and IGNORANT. I choose to have spoided food before dealing with him again.

Anyone looking to rebuild there RV refrigerator should know this is not a simple one hour task. They should also know that many other things can go wrong that may need to be replaced (more money) to get the refrigerator running again. I know this beacause of the countless hours I have spent learning and diagnosing my refrigerator problem.

The bottom line is you have to decide between getting rebuild done from half to three-quarters the cost of a new unit (plus your labor) or just buy a new one.

No matter what your decision, RVCOOL is one manufacture that you should avoid at all cost.
