When I purchased my used Ford F250 from Rt 23 Ford, I also purchased a 3 year warranty. This was the ONLY way I would have bought this truck. So I would be rest assured that if there were any problems in the future 3 years it would be covered. Since it was a diesel truck, I figured that it might have been used for towing or for work. Therefore my concerns would be wiped away knowing I would have coverage if some thing went wrong in the future.

Well, I had my first problem within 30 days, so they took care of it at the dealer. The crank position sensor went bad. Then it was pretty good until about a year passed and the overhead electronic thing that tells you the gas mileage and compass died. I was looking through the booklet from the "Nissan" warranty company that the Ford dealer sold me, to see if that was covered. Luckily it was covered, but... I noticed that the booklet said I had a 2 year warranty! This didn't worry me too much because I looked on my sales invoice to make sure that they put the right thing on the sales contract and they did. I purchased the 3 year and received a 2 year!

I contacted rt23 Ford numerous times and finally got someone to check into it... But never got a call back. So I waited and waited finally after 3 weeks I called again and asked to speak to the owner. (thinking that maybe the owner would care about the impression I was getting of their business) I did get to talk with Donna and she appointed a new person (Dan, I think) to look into this and call me. Well, he checked and found that there was a mistake... I should have gotten the 3 year as my invoice said but for some reason, I didn't. I was offered some money back in exchange for the 3rd year that I didn't get. I stated that the money isn't what I need back I need the 3rd year coverage, what if something were to break in that year... You know you can't get anything fixed at a car dealer for $500... Never mind what if I had real problems like the engine or drivetrain... EXACTLY what they told me when they wanted me to BUY the warranty! No decision was made at this time to correct the problem

Time passed and a couple of months later I called Donna again to discuss the problem. She said she would get me a year to add on to the end of my 2 year contract, which I was happy about. The only thing was she never got back to me and I had to call her again after a couple of weeks. I am a patient person, perhaps others would say stupid to be taken advantage of like this, but I wanted to believe that there was a miscommunication between the 2 companies and all would be corrected.

Well, I was wrong when finally tracked down Donna she told me that she had been trying to get me a year contract but she couldn't because it was a 1999 truck and although the miles were below average it had the years on it and they wont write a contract for it. Again, I was offered the $500, to which I told her that would be unfair and not the correct compensation for that 3rd year not being covered. What if I had to replace the oil pan? Which was a common problem in those vehicles??? It is a $2000 job! She said oh, no it is much less. I insisted she better look it up because they have to lift the engine to replace it and it is costly. When she looked it up she saw I was right. Then I said I can't take the $500, it would do what the contract would have provided for me.
