RipOff. Sold us a car that had not under gone a safety check. Bad breaks, bad wiring

We bought a car from Idaho Auto Sales back at the first of October. We bought a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. The first night we had the car we noticed that when we would hit the brakes all the lights would flicker in the car. It was so bad that at one point the lights went completely out & back on again.

Then about a week after we had the car I took a 300 mile trip. I noticed that everytime I would hit the brakes the car would jerk to the right. Soon after I took it to someone to have the brakes checked. We were told the calipers were bad & that basically the whole brake system would need to be replaced.

Soon after this the transmition started acting up & it would jerk when you would put it into gear or not go in at all. Finally all the interior lights went out. The power steering pump seized up. We had no power steering. The brakes got to the point that we didn't drive the car for over a month.

Many times I called a complianed to the finance company & explained the situation. They sent me to their mechanic & told me that I would have a rental car to use while mine was being repaired. They set up the appointment. When I showed up I found at first they couldn't even find my paperwork. There was NO RENTAL CAR. I was expected to sit there & wait until they had time to get my car in & figured out what was wrong with my car.

After many calls from & to Y2k, I refused to make a payment until my car was reapired. This was middle to end of November early December. We had only put about 600 miles on the car. They didn't contact us for a bit. Then finally called wanting money. I once again told them that until my car was repaired I would not be making a payment. They said my payments had to be caught up before they would repair the vehicle. I said no, that we had paid enough for the vehicle & until they repaired it... I would not be paying.

They would call approximately 10-15 times a day. If 1 of the kids would answer the phone they would yell at them and tell them off. They would leave nasty messages. I continued to explain to them that I wanted my vehicle fixed. They finally sent somone out to repo the car. I explained to them what was wrong with the car & by all means take it. The main manager of Y2k was with this woman & I explained my situation. She said that this would be taken care of, that the vehicle did not go through a safety check, that she wanted to know who told me I had to catch up on my payments in order to have the car repaired. She said that I would receive a phone call the next day & they would get us into another car.

I have NEVER received a phone call. Since the vehicle never underwent a safety check which it is suppose to under Idaho law (according to this woman) we shoould be able to get back the money that we paid into it to apply towards another vehicle. It was a terrible experience.
