Cars & Transport

We purchased a Hyundai Elentra in June.By the time all financing and necessary papers were signed it was almost closing time. Our salesman told us to go home and to bring the car back the next day to have it detailed and to finish the paperwork not completed that night.

On the way home I noticed the brakes were jerking when I stopped. When we got the car home and under a street light we found a dent in the left front fender. There was many scratches on the car and the front speaker crackles when turning the volume up and down.

I took the car back the next day and reported the damage to the sales manager, where I was told I would have to wait until the bodyshop crew would be there to strip the paint, pull the dent and repaint. This sounded unreal to me, because they said they could do all this in just one day.

I was told to bring it in that coming Friday, so I returned and left it for the day, in return I was given a loaner car, which was a brand new Elentra (in much better condition than mine). I was called a few hours later to pick up my car that had amazingly been stripped, painted and detailed all in a few hours.

My next complaint was the jerking brakes. For my third trip to Charlie Thomas I was told that the car had been sitting there since December and the brakes sometimes warp, so nothing was done.

Two days later I went to get in the car, I noticed black spots bleeding through the paint. When I arrived at Charlie Thomas I approached them with the idea that maybe the primer had been burned when being buffed (I was told this by a experienced performance paint and body shop).

There excuse was that the paint was not left to dry long enough. I was told to bring the car back a fourth time to leave it they would handle the problem with the paint and then "fix" the brakes. A week later the car was out of the bodyshop and ready to have the brakes worked on.

They told me that the rotars were bad and that they had been replaced. The following day the brakes started popping so I returned the car a fifth time, I was told that the were not replaced, they were resurfaced, so I was lied to.

They now claim that the rotars are new and I should not have any more problems. Driving out of the parking lot the "fixed" brakes were amazingly still popping. When I called the Charlie Thomas I talked to a sales manager, where he implied that I must be doing something to the brakes and they could not possibly have been popping while driving away.

The date is September 20 and my brakes are still messed up and I am told when I call the service department that they are short handed and they will contact me.

I am furious that they are getting away with selling me a damaged car. I am livid with the employees of Charlie Thomas for puting my son's life in danger with an inferior vehicle and I would like results!
