Minor accident, major (100%) increase - after 22 years of customer loyalty!

About a year ago, I got into a fender bender. The damage to my vehicle was so minor that it wasn't even worth fixing.

I have a feeling that the other party, whom I did rear-end at a speed of 5 MPH when she slammed on her brakes for no apparent reason, filed for some form of (likely fraudulent) major medical recompense.

Two premium periods come and go with no repercussion, price-wise. This weekend, imagine my shock when I discovered that my premium jumped from $472 to $998.

I have held this policy for 22 years now. Over those 2 decades I've been in a few minor accidents, and nothing has happened.

I don't know what gives. I can see a modest increase, but double?

I wonder if those of us not covered by their Accident Forgiveness program (turns out I wasn't, big surprise) are being made to defray the cost of those forgiven accidents with insanely inflated premium increases when we, long-term loyal customers, do happen to get into a minor accident.

Just saying, this never happened at any time before the introduction of the Forgiveness program.

The response I got from Allstate was that it wasn't so much a premium increase as it was a revokation of my discounts. I am sorry to report, fellow consumers, that I'm no longer considered to be a "good driver". I am now a bad, bad driver. Very bad indeed. They're forcing me to change my license plate to "666".

They have me by the you-know-what, and all I can do is keep both middle fingers in the upright and locked position and directed at Allstate. Never has my opinion of a company done a complete 180 like this.
