Used my credit report against me to raise my rates by over 100% after a minor accident

After I had a fairly minor accident, that involved only my car, and damage to it, Allsate used my credit report against me as a reason to raise my car insurance premium by over $800.00, (over $166.00 a month).

This was the first claim I had ever made against my policy with them in the 18 months I had been insured by them.

I don't think that using someone's past financial problems against them to raise their auto premium by well over 100% is either fair, or ethical. I don't care if it is legal.

People often have little, or no control over what happens to them economically, and using their misfortune against them should NOT be legal.

Their actions just proves to yet again that insurance companies are more than happy to take your money, but heaven help you if you ever use the service that you are paying them for.

I had considered Allstate to be a decent company, but I now know that their claims that they really care about their policy holders is nothing but a pack of lies.

No one is in "good hands" if they have insurance with Allstate.
