Ripoff the business that doesnt give a damn

I was paying bills a couple nights ago, so I called Allstate's automated system. I was stunned to find that my bill had doubled. My payment went from $302.00 to $604.11.

I spoke with several customer service representatives and they lied to me. I was informed that the Texas legislature had passed an "equity" law on car insurance. To renew my insurance I now had to pay two premiums in advance. I spoke with another representative and I was told the truth. Allstate is having trouble paying existing claims so when a customer renews his or her insurance, they must put equity into the account by paying two premiums in advance. I have been with Allstate for years and I have never had to pay equity in to my account. I have paid premiums to Allstate for so long, if equity counts, I should own an Allstate franchise.

Two years ago, my son turned 25. I expected a decrease in my premium, instead my premium was raised $60. At that time, Allstate told me they had to pay damage claims for people in Texas that had hail damage that year. Allstate passed the bill on to me by raising my insurance premium by $110.00 (my agent told me my premium would go down $50.00 when my son reached age 25; it did not go down, it went up $60-do the math, it was an increase of $110).

I have never had an accident so I have never filed a claim with Allstate. I just pay them month after month, year after year.

The Honorable Texas Representative Rob Cook encouraged me to write Mr. Liddy and send any response from Liddy to him so he could take it before the Texas Legislature when they convene again in January.
