Car repossed instantly and was only 1 month and partial payment behind ripoff

Drive Financials is a true rip off. I brought a car from a dealership not knowing that I would begin my worst nightmare. I had no problems with them until maybe 8 or 9 months after i had the vehicle. They called me stating that my payments were behind 3 months. They told me I missed my first payment which was due in Sept but my dealership stated that my payments started in Oct. I sat down and went over my payment history with an individual and they told me to pay $150 and I would be caught up. Well the next month another guy calls and says I am 3 months behind. I told him I had spoken with someone and they told me to pay $150 and I would be caught up.

Well low and behold they called me one day and asked me when was I going to catch up my payments. I had not paid my bill for the month and they had left a vmail for me to call them or they would be out in an hour and reposess. I told them I was not behind enough for them to repossess to give me until Friday. That next day, they were at my home and repossed my car.

I've never seen or heard of such a fast repossession before. The man who was from Recovery One out of VA stated the bank told him to pick up the car. He didn't have any paperwork or anything for me to sign. I admit I was that month and a partial payment behind, as to which the month had not ended. They had me down as being behind due to my first payment which the dealership stated would be in Oct and the payment for the next month which had not even manifested yet.

Isn't there a law or something that can be done I had almost $4,000 put into the car already. I also asked them to defer my payments which they claim I was behind in to the end of my loan. They stated they could not do that. Then another individual called and said they could defer the payments if I sent in x amount of money, my insurance card and 3 new references within the next 30 minutes, lo and behold I was at work and I definitely wasn't about to give them any more references to call and harass all times of the night. They call you all times of the morning, night, on your job. They have no respect.

I do understand giving one a courtesy call or reminder, but Drive Financials is pure harassment. What can I do?
