Ripoff dishonset fraudlent billing

I went to but a car from Antwerpen. Where upon the sale man mentions that there was a special going on that they'll take $1000.00 of the price and put it towards the down payment. I agreed and was grateful that he took time to bring it to my attention. There were some problems with the car and was told I couldn't take the car home. I came back the next day and purchased the car. I got the car financed thru my credit union for the amount in full. And was quite content that the car was going to get fixed soon. The car took a week to get fixed and when it was finished the salesman dropped the car off for us. The following week it was returned to the dealer for more problems. They kept it for a week and a half. It was fixed and returned.

One month and a half later someone called and said that I owe the dealer ship $1000.00; and that I better pay it before he takes me to court for it. He said the guy who did our contract is no longer there and they were reviewing all his work. With the contract he put $1000.00 cash down but on the write up he put $1000.00 credit. I and my husband went up to the dealership and find out what was going on. But I was met with the same response that I owe the money and that we should pay. I told them I didn't want the car and they should take it back if I have too pay an additional $1000.00 but the General Manager said that it won't come to that. Now I received a letter from a lawyer saying that I should remit all payment to his office and have no contact with Antwerpen. The car was returned twice to the dealer and both times there was no mention that I owe $1000.00. If that was the case I would have financed the whole thing thru the credit union. Not just everything but $1000.00. I have suggested that they just please take the car back but they don't want to.
