Buyer beware!

October 5 - Consumer Follow-up Message:

On October 4 I picked up my scooter at the Kawasaki-Suzuki of Durham and the owner apologized for laughing in my face and promised to honor the TGB warranties even if the distributor is unaccomodating. She also claimed she will reconsider selling this particular brand if the warranty issues remain too great.

October 3 - Consumer Message:

I bought two TGB Laser model 303 150cc scooters from this company in June.By the time my wife's scooter had reached 175 miles we noticed a rattle at certain engine speeds and immediately took it in to the dealership for warranty repair. The repair was only a small screw adjustment that regulates the front clutch section and placing/replacing a rubber chaffing mount for the kickstand. The dealership did not know whether or not the repairs would be covered under warranty and could not gather this information in a timely manner after repairs had been made. They were more than glad to charge me $42 and some change if I picked up the scooter prior to getting clearance from the distributor Cobra Powersports. The owner of this dealership actually laughed in my face during the telephone conversation when I suggested that I should not have to pay for repairs that should be covered under warranty even if the distributor did not honor their warranty. She also told me that you must by a vehicle without test driving it at this dealership—are we to make uninformed expensive purchases? Well I also tried to get some satisfaction with the distributor Cobra Powersports and they started out strong but fell short by the end of the conversation. Basically the TGB line of scooters are great, however the distributor and local Durham, NC dealer fall well short of the TGB reputation leaving me to the notion of "Buyer Beware".
