I bought a Dodge Caravan from Gulf Coast Dodge in May. Barry Hannon was the sales representative that assisted me. He asked me to put $1000 down and I told him that I would be happy to do that but I need to wait until Thrusday (three days later). He asked me to write the check then and OFFERED to hold the check for three days, so I wrote the check and purchased the vehicle. He deposited the check the next day and the check bounced.
I called the same day and told Barry what had happened and told him I could come in and pay cash the next day. He apologized profusely and told me he would take care of it. Two days later another sales man called me and left a message that he was very concerned about the check. So I called him back and explained what happened and told him I would come in and pay cash and he told me he would talk to Barry.
Then I called Barry. Barry told me that the check had to go through your system and that HE would call me to let me know what to do next. I called three weeks later to ask about the check and Barry never called me back.
Today I got a call from the sales manager telling me that he had a form to send into the sheriff's office because I had committed a felony.
A FELONY! I have made four calls to clear this up. I have offered to bring in cash on each occasion and on each occasion I was told to wait. And now I am a FELON? I have practically begged to come and pay the money in cash!
When I called the sales manager Bob Collins to try and explain what happened he kept interrupting me. He treated me like trash; he told me he was doing me a favor. He did not care that his sales person treated me badly; in fact he wouldn't even listen. He simply informed me that I could bring him cash or go to jail. The fact that it ever got to that point is outrageous.
This experience has been horribly embarrassing and the call tonight was terrifying. I have lost sleep and have cried myself dry over this situation. I can not believe how incompetently and cruelly I have been treated..
