On June 12, We bought a used 1999 Chevy Malibu from Hall Chevrolet. The vehicle sold as-is, but prior to purchase, when asked the finance manager about what would happen if within 30 days the vehicle breaks down, he assued us that if anything went wrong with the vehicle in that short of time-span, that they would repair and/replace any part free of charge.

Our salesman's name was Percy. About 1 1/2 weeks after purchase, we had to take the vehicle back to the dealership to fix a broken air conditioner relay switch, which they did fix at no charge. Then on July 8, while heading to a church picnic, the car just stopped, the battery light came on, and it would not start. We then had to have it towed to Hall Chevrolet. The day was on Saturday, and Percy was there and asked what happened to the vehicle. We told him. He then said the service department was closed on Saturdays during the summer, but that he would speak to them on Monday Morning about fixing the vehicle. He had failed to do this task, but once I went up there, he stated that it was not up to him, but up to us. He had before told us, and my wife as well, that he would call us the minute he tlked to them on the Monday mentioned here.

When i went up there and he walked with me to the service department, they had no idea that the vehicle was even there. Then Percy tried to lie and say that we had the vehicle for 2 or three months already. When i disputed this, he went and pulled up the actual buying date, then seeing that he was purposely wrong. The service department said to me that they would talk to the service manager concerning the repair. The next day, Tuesday, June 11, they called my wife and told her that it was the altinator that was bad, and that the service manager said they would do repair work for free, but that we had to buy the faulty part. She reminded them of the lemon law, as well as the finance manager's assurance of fixing the vehicle for free if it went bad within 30 days of purchase.

They refused that statement, and we ended up writing a check that we wasn't prepared to have to pay, eventually causing our bank to charge us for the paid check, as well as other things that went thru them during this time. The car dealership rushed down to cash the check. The next day I called and asked to speak with the owner, hoping to talk with him on a friendly basis and plead with him to honor their own promise. He told me that he wasn't going to honor that, that we bought the vehicle as-is, and that was that. I then told him that he leaves me no chice but to report them to the Better Business Bureau, as well as do whatever it takeds legally to discredit them as a reputable care dealership. He then yelled at me and said we we just bought the whole damn service. I asked im what he meant by that, and he said the repairs and parts as well. I reminded him that that part of it had done been done and paid for.

Then he told me that that was the last damn dollar that we would get from Hall Chevrolet. I have reported this to the Better Business Bureau, and they responded that the dealership responded that they was not going to reimburtse us any of the money that we paid out for all of this. I rebutted their response, and am awaiting further responses from them. I decided to come to this site and report this as well. I am currently seeking 320.00, the amount that we had to pay for the faulty altinator to be replaced, as well as the 120.00 that the bank charged to our account for draft fees, making this a total of 440.00 that I am respectively seeking from Hall Chevrolet.
