Pontiac Grand Am Multifunction Switch Problem

Cars & Transport

I received a letter from Pontiac dated April. It was in regards to my 2002 Pontiac Grand Am GT. Pontiac was reimbursing anyone who paid to have their Hazard Switch replaced at their own expense. I had my Multifunction Switch replaced (4 year old vehicle w / 20,000 miles).

I sent the required information in to Pontiac since the multifunction switch and hazard switch were similar. I recently received a letter from Pontiac stating that they denied me reimbursement.

After doing research online regarding Grand Am and the multifunction switch, I've found that this is a common problem as well as a safety hazard. Dozens and dozens of people have reported the same exact issue with their Pontiac. One Grand Am owner almost got rearended because his brake lights were not working due to the faulty multifunction switch.

I suggest anyone that has the same problem to contact Pontiac immediately. I plan to print out all the forums where Grand Am customers complained about the same problem as well as write Pontiac a letter demanding reimbursement.

I also plan to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as well as my State Attorney General.
