Repair rip-off & GM Pontiac

Cars & Transport

As an owner of 3 Pontiac Grand Am's before I bought my 1996 Pontiac Grand Am GT, I figured I was making a decent investemt. Little did I know that I would be paying more in repairs for this vehicle that it is now worth.

I purchased this vehicle used in Feb. Of 1998 from a local car dealer in Springfield Missouri.

From the very next month the vehicle started needing repairs. Up until a few months ago I repeated was repairing something on this vehice. From regular upkeep to a new motor. Yes thats right a new (used) motor in a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am GT with only 95xxx miles on it.

Funny thing about this story is that the motor that replaced the one which blew up (crank shaft and connecting rod) less than 3000 miles later blew up in the same manor.

The garage which did the repairs was Bob's Automotive in Springfield Missouri would not stand behind the motor since it was a salvage motor leaving me out $2500 on the motor and water pump I spent as well as out of a vehicle.

Being a single mother spending this much on repairs plus a monthly payment just isn't feesible.

I guess I have learned the moral of the story is not to purchase another vehicle with a quad four engine manufactured by Pontiac. Seems they are all faulty.

Good luck to all of you other Grand Am owners!
