Engine Services ripoff mechanic fradulent liar unethical incompetent

On December 9 I contacted this company and inquired about having an engine rebuilt in my son's vehicle for a Christmas gift. After receiving a quote from the company, I called several others. I had not made up my mind when this sharp talking, slick owner called me back to say, "I have a tow truck available and we can get it in the shop tomorrow". I thought wow, what a real go getter... The only thing he went and got was my money.

This owner had told me a "week, week and a half tops". He also told others (that I had call and question him), the same thing. To make a long story short, after many phone calls and going by his "shop" which was never open I had finally decided enough was enough.

I held my own stakeout in February at his shop and waited for someone to arrive so I could get to the bottom of this. I was told my car was at his "other location".initially the address he gave me was for an apartment complex. After yelling at him enough he finally told me my car was at another automotive shop.

The mechanic at the other automotive shop had been contracted by this company to pull the engine and re-install after it was rebuilt. I received other information from this mechanic such as he had done the same thing before and the engines that the mechanic produces are inferior.

After getting the police involved (and having the mechanic blatantly lie to the police), my engine was finally delivered to the 2nd mechanic shop. The first mechanic then insisted I sign a receipt or they would not turn over my engine.

Ofcourse I was unable to read the fine print on the receipt but did make a notation that I had no idea this was my engine and that I would be having another mechanic inspect it. It wasn't until later that I had reading glasses and could make out the fine print.

It has comments such as an independent contractor may work on your car (which I was never told, customer waives all rights to any award of attorney's fees or costs, customer agrees that they are entitled to liquidated damages of $50 only. What a crock. If I had been provided with any of this information prior to them working on this vehichle, there is no how and no way I would have ever allowed this company to touch my car.

I have had this company investigated and although they are not a machine shop which is what they intimate in their advertising, the licensing division can do nothing about it. I still have an ongoing case with consumer affairs and Better Business Bureau which I will pursue until it is done, but I guess I am out of all monies I unfortunately paid to this company.
