I took my camaro into there shop to have the rear oil seal and valve cover gaskets replaced. Also to have the engine diagnosed. I never told the shop manager that I was speaking with that I used to work as a mechanic for several years. After the report came back, the manager informed me that my engine was shot. I would need a complete overhaul and it would run me about $2,400 to 2,800 dollars to do. I told him no thanks that I would just sell the car as is. He later called me at home and told me he could get a crated engine and installed for aroung $3,400, a better deal than just rebuilding my current engine. Again, I told him no thanks. I took my car to a reputable mechanic and got the work done for $400. Dollars and the car ran just fine. Wow, $400 vs $3,400!
