I wanted a long block installed on my truck. He did so but would complete it after the truck was painted. Engine has not been installed, 6 months later

Cars & Transport

When I spoke to the mechanic, I told him that I wanted a long block in my truck. He said that he would be able to do the work in about 2 to 3 weeks. I agreed and he came to pick up the truck because it was not driveable. I would go and see my truck and would talk about the truck and the things I wanted to do to it. One thing that I mentioned was that I wanted the truck painted. He told me that he knew someone and would get me a quote for me. The first quote was at $4500.00. I told him thaat that was too expensive and asked if he knew someone else. He said yes and proceeded to get me yet another quote. The second was for $3500.00. I agreed and he had the truck picked-up.

At that time my engine was already complete, but was not installed, because the trucks engine bay was to be painted too.

5 months later the truck still hasn't been painted and I wanted to get the truck done, so I had the mechanic pick up the truck and finish installing the engine. The mechanic told me that he would have the engine installed in 1 1/2 to 2 days. 4 weeks later engine is still not completed.

One thing that the mechanic did mention was that several parts were missing. He mentioned that the parts were there when the truck was picked up. So, I looked through several photos I had taken when the truck was at the mechanic's and at the paint and body shop.

I mentioned this to the mechanic, and he assured me that he would locate the missing parts. That never happened, and no parts were ever produced. I kept the mechanic informed of all that the mechanic would tell me.

The Mechanic kept putting me off as far as the installation, so I told him that if it would speed things up, I would buy the parts needed to complete the job. He assured me that that was no problem and that he would get the parts himself. 4 weeks later he is still missing a part for the tramsmission. Again he stated that he would get it, and have the truck readythe next day. That too didn't happen.

I went to see the mechanic today 14/03, at around 3:00 PM, and the truck was still not ready. I got angry and walked out. After I had told him that I was tired of his and the body mans lie's. I told him that I had had enough and would try to get the part myself. Once I left I realized that, I could not possibily get those parts, because I had just had surgery one week ago, and although the stiches will be removed this monday, I can't do any heavy work for another 4 to 6 weeks.

So, my truck doesn't get done until...? Oh and yes I do fear retaliation from both of the men, but I have no other recourse, and I am fed-up, with these two shops.
