Affordable Auto Rental
Poor Customer Service, Poor Quality Vehicles, Ripoff

I had the great misfortune of blowing the engine in my truck. I needed a rental car so I went to Affordable Auto Rental since it was located close to my place of employment.

After renting a car for a couple weeks the car stopped shifting, leaving me stranded 25 miles from home. It was asfter midnight so I called their 24 hr emergency # and got an answering machine. I left a message.

After 90 minutes and no returned call I left the car where it was and forked out $40 cash for a ride home. I called again in the AM after they were open and they refused to credit me for the night's rental or my cab fare.

I wasn't happy, but at the time my credit card was maxed due to the deposit I had used to rent the car. It would be 72 hrs before it was taken off hold and I needed a car that day, so I rented another car from Affordable Auto Rentals.

Within 4 days this car's (broken windshield, poor paint, dings everywhere) engine started to lose power. I immediately brought the car in. They checked the oil and it was empty and on the verge of engine seizure.

Instead of apologizing to me and giving me another rental car-they tried accusing me for the car screwing up cuz I didn't check the oil. I had the car 3.5 days-I told them I didn't think they'd rent me a car this mechanically unsound in the 1st place.

All this time the manager's (some chunky Native American lady) 4-5 yr old kid is running around the office with a popsicle in his hand. The kid eventually bumps into me and his popsicle breaks and lands right on my white t-shirt-staining it pretty good. The manager saw this, told her kid to settle down, but offered me no apologies whatsoever.

Anyway, the manager tells me to hold on and leaves the room to make a phone call. I figured she was getting me another car to rent. She returns 2 minutes later and says that since I ruined their car they wouldn't rent to me again. I was pretty upset, but I bit my tongue.

Then it occured to me that I had no way to get home (8 miles away), so I asked them for a ride. She said that nobody was available to drive me home-which was BS cuz their lot attendant was sitting in the next room.

I told her I thought that this was bad biz and she seemed 100% apathetic-like I'm the bad guy? I didn't want to make a scene, so I figured I'd start on the long walk home-or at least walk to another car rental place a mile or so away. As I'm leaving the manager offers me the advice "maybe you should try the bus?" in a bitchy tone.
