2010 Ford Escape A/C Intermittent Cooling - 2010 Ford Escape

2010 Ford Escape, 4 cylinder engine. Around 40,000 miles we started experiencing the a/c system intermittently stop cooling. The two electric radiator cooling fans would also run on high (very noisy) when this happened.initially this was only for a short period of time (couple of minutes. At 66,000 miles this became a serious issue, and we took the car to the local dealer for service in the fall of 2012. They noted high head pressure, flushed out the condenser, and returned the car to us. At the beginning of the summer we now have almost no cooling. We took it back to the Ford dealer. The tech says it is high head pressure (same as before) and now they claim that the a/c system has “debris” in it and must be almost completely replaced. Estimated cost at $2900. I am finding several exact instances documented on the internet of this same a/c issue (debris) for other low mileage Ford Escapes.
