Bank of America erroneously paid mortgage taxes, harrassing me with threatening letters more than 2 years later demanding refund

Bank of America sent me and my wife threatening letters saying that Bank of America paid our mortgage taxes on our behalf for the year of 2009 and 2010. We thought that was a scam until we called them. Our mortgage loan lender is Chase and we pay a monthly escrow to Chase. Every year weve received form 1098 from Chase showing theyve paid our property taxes. Weve never had a mortgage loan with Bank of America. Their errors continued to happen for three consecutive years without them ever validating their escrow logs vs. The parcel holders ID.
Bank of America threatens us to report us to a credit collection agency if a response isnt received. We have worked very hard to achieve good credit and cannot have threats, valid or invalid, destroy our credit standing.
Bank of America has requested full refund for not only 2009s erroneous tax payment, but also 2010 and 2011 tax payments. I am not in the financial position to be able to afford to pay for a tax bill for 3 years. My monthly escrow payments are around $200 and I cant afford to make this huge amount
This is totally Bank of Americas mistake
Nobody informed us about these payments until 2012
We have spent hours to be able to get in touch with mortgage department in Bank of America and nobody return our calls or co-operate with us. When we reach them they hold us for hours. Not only we have to spend our time to reach them for their mistake but also we have to pay huge phone bills.

We dont know what to do. We need your help. Please help.
