Bank of America passing mortgages to Green Tree and ripping off customers in the process - Mortgage payment

Over the years, I've tried very hard to get away from having any accounts or dealings with Bank of America. Very unfortunately, however, when Countrywide went belly up, Bank of America acquired my mortgage. Last November, they transferred my mortgage to Green Tree servicing. Now it turns out, they did so with a $2000 deficit in the escrow. After an hour-long "chat" with GreenTree, it looks like Bank of America took the monthly payments from me but just didn't bother to make the PMI or tax payments, Greentree got the account and didn't bother to settle the outstanding debts with Bank of America. Now guess who they're coming to and asking to pay the deficit? Yep, yours truly. Green Tree is clearly accepting that I have already made these payments to Bank of America once and it's Bank of America who has been delinquent in passing on the payments to tax, etc. However, they have the gall to tell me I should pay the deficit to them and then go get it from Bank of America! Did I have any control over what Bank of America did with my mortgage payment? Obviously not! Did I have any control over, or even knowledge of, why and how my mortgage changed hands to Green Tree before it happened? No! But I'm the one both of them come to for payment, even if it means i have to pay both of them for the same thing twice. Well, forgive me, but i don't make enough money to pay for the same thing twice!
