Punished for not using washington mutual in refinance of mortgage

I was recently informed that Washington Mutual bank is enforcing a prepayment penality on my mortgage wich amounts to $6,600.00

When I first inquired about refinancing so that I can do some work on my home, I was told by a rep of Washington Mutual that there would be no prepayment penalty and since my contract states "If I make a full prepayment, I may be charged a fee" I asked the rep about this and again was told not to worry and in fact they would be happy to process my refinance info over the phone. Well long story short I recieved a better offer from another lender and now guess what? Washington Mutual now is going ahead and charging me a prepayment penalty of $6,800.00!

To top things off I just recieved a call from my new mortgage broker who says that my original 1st and 2nd mortgage that I paid off when I financed with Washington Mutual a year ago is still showing as active and open at the county court house! This will now delay my closing the refinance a few days while they recieve confirmation that the loans were paid off

This is from a bank that is new to our town and wants customers.

I recieve requests to tranfer my company checking account to their bank. What, they haven't screwed me out of enough money already? Kiss off Washington Mutual, My next step is an ad in the local paper to let local people know how greedy you really are, I have to work an extra 272 hours to make up for your greed!
