I had an Affes account and paid it off in 1999. I got various bills stating that I owed a balance. Each bill I disputed. I sent legal verification of the payment and they still kept billing me and adding interest. Now they have taken my stimulis check and are planning to take money out of my retirement check from the military service I retired from. I have called all the government agencies I can think of and none can help. I tried to talk with collections and the special stimulis program (which is collections) I have gotten no where with anyone. There is an article on consumer.com about a suit someone has filed in Cal. It also states by law any account over 10 years old can not be collected on. I have informed AFFES of the law but no one has acknowledged my call. It is a shame that AFFES can go into retirement money IRS refunds and stimulis checks without a court order to get money. I wonder what bank funds AFFES and Military Star??
