Capital One Bank charge card interest on "lost check", incredibly rude superviso

Every month I pay my charge card on time and in full. I have excellent credit as well. I charge several thousand dollars in a month and often times send more than one check. This is always noted on the receipt.
When I received my invoice this month there was a charge for finance and then I noticed only one check was credited.
When I called I was referred to an incredibly rude supervisor who basically accused me of lying. I suggested the 2nd check was most likely left in the envelope but he suggested it was more likely I never sent it.
Now we weren't arguing over much money but in the past other companies have checked my history and made their decision based on that. Not this company. I felt this was their fault not mine but, of course, I couldn't prove it. And I'm sure this month, I will be charged finance again.
When the conversation was done, I mentioned I would be cancelling my account as soon as I found a new card. A week later I received a postcard telling me THEY would be cancelling my card. My son also had problems with his capital one card and cancelled his card.
