SCAM - Fake Lates to get default rate

During late 2006 I received several statements from Capital One indicating that my payment was late and charging me a late fee. I contacted customer service and they stated they had received my payment by the due date and would back out the fee. This went on from September through March.in April my account was "re-priced" from 9.9% to 28.15%. I noticed the re-price in June and when asked why Capital One stated they based the re-price of my account on 4 or more late payments for the period October March. I attempted through 5 different pieces of correspondence and numerous phone calls to resolve this issue. On two separate occasions Capital One Sr. Account Specialists (Nick and James) agreed with my assessment that the re-price was made in error and put in a request for an adjustment. After each instance I received correspondence stating that my request to "lower my interest rate" had been denied.

Today I spoke to Brian, Sr. Account Specialist at Capital One, who stated "Capital One reserves the right to change the account terms based on your late payment in April". He states that Capital One will not be reversing the re-price and he is sorry for the inconvenience. I am out several hundred dollars in interest expense and many hours of my time. As a customer since 1989, and at my peak spending $60K a year on their credit cards I would think they would have treated me a little better. I will now sever my relationship with Capital One and diligently work to ensure that anyone and everyone not do business with the bank.
