Capital One Credit Card
Never received a credit card that I am being charged for RIPOFF

In November I applied for a Capital One credit card.

From then until March, I did not receive a card nor any letter from Capital One. I did receive, however, more applications to apply for an account. No address change for me.

On March 5th, I received a BILL for a credit card account. And it was LATE. I now owed a late fee for an account I never even knew I had.

The company sent out a new card and the envelope is postmarked March 22nd.

Several phone calls to Capital One and much stress later, my "account" is now SUSPENDED for NON-PAYMENT. I have now been told several conflicing stories - including the request that I make a payment or else I will continue to be suspended. On the other hand, I am reassured by several managers (including a friendly Sam in Texas, and Ally...) that everything is okay and my account will be good as of April 4th.

I also was told by a friendly Shaquita (sic) that it is a very good thing I called when I did (on March 31st) or else my report would have gone to the Credit Beauru and my credit rating would have been negatively affected. Yikes.

Remember, this is all for a credit card I didn't even know about.

Out of the 15 Capital One employees and "Account Specialists" I have spoken to, there have been as many apologies for my inconvenience as well as "Sorry, maams', but theres nothing more we can do".

I am at my wit's end because the phone-recording for my account states that I am still suspended and cannot make a purchase until a payment is made.

I have been told also that the reason for this is because I missed the March 4th payment due date. Again, my "new" credit card was sent March 22nd.

I am writing this under emotional duress right now as I am trying to build a good credit rating so that I may become a first-time homebuyer. It's not looking too good for me right now, through no fault of my own.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated! (Even if the advice concludes that Capital One may in fact, do this to a customer and I, somehow, am in the wrong.)
