Collection harrasment ripoff

I received a phone message today to call the 877 number with an attached case number, I did so. I verifies social etc. They mentioned an outstanding debt to Capital One. I told them that that amount was contested. I asked them to please send me something in writing they said they tried years ago.

I told them that I lived in the same house and have received no such letter. I told them (her) that if she sent me something in writing. I would pay 1/2 the amount which is still far far greater then the amount that was contested.

She refused to send anything. She was rude, she was insinuating, she was unwilling to listen that I merely needed something in writing. I told her I was not going to give payment over the phone, that I need a writen copy saying bill would be paid in full at agreed amount. She again said I did not pay before I probally was not going to pay agin. I told her I was going to contact my attorney Monday and that he would contact her, to which she replied if you can pay an attorney, why can't you pay me.

Her treatment was heavy handed, rude and harrassing.
