Harrassing and unable to contact when needed

I owed money to my cell phone carrier and they turned it over the collection agency. I never said I didn't owe the amount, but I was unable to pay the full amount at that time. UCB started calling me at work every day, each day being a different person. Some were nice, but one really was hateful. She told me I need to get my kids a job to help pay for the bill they caused (they were 14 & 15 at the time) or find a way to get money. She told me I need to get the money from family (which I have no one left) or borrow against my car. I never got anything in writing and every time I tried calling the number they gave me, it would be some other company. I made arrangements to pay one large sum and then 2 other large amounts in the next 2 months. I tried calling them when I had some problems making 2nd payment but couldn't reach them. I had to stop payment on the check and now they are getting back to harassing me at work. I still haven't received one word in writing about the bill, the arrangements or even an address to send them a payment. I'm still waiting on them to contact me so I can get an address and I will make payments, once I receive in writing how much is owed after that huge payment I made—which as a matter of fact, I did borrow against my car and now have that payment. This was my own fault for not insisting on getting something in writing from them—for all I know, they didn't even put down that $1600 payment on my account and it's my word against them. But, I'm not paying another dime until I get something in writing.
