Scamming collector

I was contacted by this company on an old debt from 2000. I don't remember the man's name but he told me that he was calling about a debt owed and that his company had been hired to contact me about it. He told me the Furniture Companies Name and the amount owed.

This is a no barred loan & has expired. I told him that I knew that he was a collection agency and he said no he was not that he worked for the attorney who had asked him to call about this debt. He asked me if I was going to pay the debt and I said no I am not. The loan was expired. He even asked if we still had the furniture and I said yes and told me that I should put it on Ebay and sell it and they would take a small fee.

I asked him, who was going to buy a bed some one had been sleeping in for 8 years? He said if I did not pay this loan that the attorney that he worked for would file a lein against my house! I asked for their fax number and he gave it to me but then asked what was I going to fax?

I told him that he would see when he got it! He said that he would call me once he got it. He even giggled.

A local attorney gave my friend this form letter to sent out to debt collectors after her husband died of cancer. It has worked so far. Once they get this letter you never hear from them again & some other agency picks it up down the road. I believe that 15 people have tried to collect on this and an attorney said if they took me to court as long as it had been that I could offer up to sell the furniture and usually the furniture company would have some one there to place a value and that it was usually around $100.00.

And sign your name and either fax it where you get confirmation or send it registered mail, in my case I don't know the address.
