"As a courtesy, we issued a temporary credit for 222.75 on June 22. If the requested information is not received we will reverse the temporary credit from your account on July 17th."

When I spoke to the lady from the bank on the phone she told me I had 10 days from the receipt of the banks request to send a letter with information regarding a charge back that I needed to have filed.

I sent the letter in 4 days from the day I received the request from the bank, on the 12th to be exact.

They received the letter on the 20th.

When I called on the 23rd after seeing the 222.75 had been removed again from my account on the 17th frank George told me it was because they had not received the letter on time.

I explained that I was told to send the letter within 10 days of receipt of the request and that I had sent it in 4 and that the letter was mailed on the 12th.

Anyways I tell him you have the letter put the money back until you have decided the investigation and they say no because they supposedly sent me a letter telling me to have all the requested information in their hands by the 17th.

Did that paragraph say I am supposed to have my letter in by the 17th or on the 17th they will reverse the charge back and remove funds from my account?

I don't think so - read carefully here because the request they sent me says nothing about when or on what date they should be in receipt of my letter to them it only says what their action will be on july 17th.

If what they wanted was to have my response letter by the 17th then they would have made their letter read like this below.

"As a cutesy, we issued a temporary credit for 222.75 on June 22. If the requested information is not received by July 17th we will reverse the temporary credit from your account on July 17th."

But no instead it reads like this.

"As a cutesy, we issued a temporary credit for 222.75 on june 22. If the requested information is not received we will reverse the temporary credit from your account on July 17th."

That said nothing regarding what my action would need or on what date the response needed to be received in order to keep the 222.75 reflected in my account balance.

On the phone i was told 10 days from receipt of the request that I would need to send the letter back to them and I did in 4 days...

The new rep is trying to tell me that the old rep told me they needed the letter back in 10 days period.

So why would the bank even send me a letter, why not give me the address over the phone and tell me the clock is ticking.

The answer to all of this is that it is merely another way for bank of America to appear to be doing their job by using grey area language in a manner that will inevitably screw over the client.

If i received the letter on the 8th and was going off what the bank told me then according to my calculations it would took 8 days for the post office to deliver this letter with pre paid postage.

If that's the case this means to get the letter there by the 17th the letter would have had to be sent no later then the 9th, only 1 day after receipt of the request.

So whets bank of America trying to do here?

People with jobs and responsibility cant drop everything to write a detailed letter and send it all within 1 day, that doesn't sound very reasonable.

The bank has a duty to give me at least a few days to write and send my response, we dealing with snail mail here not email, time to ship needs to be taken into consideration.

Bank of America knows this and uses it to keep your money.

Just another way bank of America rips you off and claims they are being courteous to you.
