Not a happy custome

I went with Directv thinking that they were giving us a good deal. Come to find out, it was a scam! Our bill over one years time went from about $64.00 to over $98.00. According to Rick at Directv there is not much more he can do. Also, if I cancel at this time, we will owe $240.00 for early cancellation. I am going to contact Dish to see if it would be cost beneficial to cancel early and get a cheaper rate with Dish. I have a feeling it will be. Wouldn't it be more cost effective for Directv to just have given us a true discount for the next year to keep more customers? This is what I do not understand about companies. They would rather lose a customer than keep them happy.
