I have had Cable installed for over twenty years. The company when it was originally installed was Cambridge Cable. The custmer services from Cambridge Cable was customer oriented and repairs and maintenance was reasonbly fast and efficient. Then the company was taken over by an American Company called NTL when the problems started. Ntl were also the ISP whom I believe sold email addresses and I started receiving masses of Spam email and viruses despite the securiy packages I bought. Many charges for phone like line rental. Call charges that were challenged were left un investigated and then the next bill would come in.
Finally the company was bought out again, This time by Virgin Media.com. Virgin are very Domineering in their customer approach. You have to comply with their system and introductions or nothing is done. For instance You cannot send an Email from your email address (unless you have Virgin mail) Any email you send from your own email address so you have a record is returned as 'Undelvered' with instructions to use their complaints System (of which you can have no record) They do not like you to pay by cheque for which they make a charge of Five Pounds. Service and maintenance is very sluggish and quite often try to resolve your problem by telephone.
My Broadband connection became intermittent on 23 Septmember and my telephone was not working from 6th October. Neither problems have yet been resolved although I have now been given a date of the 10th November. Meanwhile I have received my monthly bill which shows Calls made AFTER the 6th October. Not possible. The bill also includes the line rental for the telephone which I am refusing to pay. No phone - no line rental. I would not recommend Virgin Media to anyone.
